Although in Malta, we have a long way to go when it comes to stereotyping marijuana users, across the world, the stoner stereotype is starting to ease off a little bit. Especially when such lists are published of iconic world leaders and singer-songwriters who have come out as smokers.
We are sure that you have heard about these ten names, but did you know that they were marijuana users?
Snoop Dogg
Snoop Dog is one of the most essential figures in contemporary cannabis culture. Being one of the most highly regarded rappers in history, he is the epitome of hip-hop culture. We have to admit that, in this case, Snoop Dog fits perfectly into the stoner persona. However, you will get to know by other names in this list, that this is not always the case.
Snoop Dog has created entire employment opportunities to support smoking marijuana. In fact, he owns his own weed line and is the owner of a marijuana culture website.
Barack Obama
Barack Obama, and many other US presidents, were weed smokers. Obama’s 2013 biography describes Barack as a champion weed smoker who enjoyed smoking in his Hawaiian home. He’s not the only Commander in chief who has admitted this! George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and John F. Kennedy are all known to have inhaled a smoke or two.

Rumour has it that Bob Dylan turned The Beatles on to cannabis in 1964 which might explain 1969’s Yellow Submarine issue in which the bad could not even hold their guitars! Above all, Oprah has admitted to using weed in the past, although she never admitted that she is a consistent cannabis user.
