Releaf Malta is advocating for the repeal of an antiquated and stigmatizing law that leads to the arrest and prosecution of law-abiding citizens. The proposal emphasizes the elimination of legal repercussions for sharing and gifting cannabis among consenting adults without monetary transactions, aligning with recent partial decriminalization amendments.

In October, two cannabis associations secured licenses to legally cultivate and sell the drug, marking a significant step forward. Releaf highlights the importance of the proposed amendment in safeguarding communities from unwarranted persecution, resonating with the principles of harm reduction and social justice endorsed by government authorities.

Persisting with punitive laws contradicts government principles and objectives. Retaining legal tools enabling prosecution undermines the reforms initiated, according to Releaf. The current legal framework perpetuates stigma and disproportionately penalizes individuals engaged in responsible non-commercial cannabis sharing or gifting.

Releaf insists urgent reform is necessary to rectify this imbalance, ensuring legal measures align with collective viewpoints and principles of fairness and equity. Failing to address this disparity perpetuates a disconnection between legislative mandates and community values, jeopardizing the credibility of reforms aimed at promoting social justice.

Storytelling is my jam; whether it's through words, visuals or pottery, passing on an important or educational message through any medium is where it's at for me. When not writing a ToDo list with the never-ending tasks this scatterbrain has to get to, you'll probably find me with a weight in my hand or getting messy with some clay. Downtime is writing time which includes anything from facts to fiction. Find me typing away hidden under a whole lot of greenery with some green in my hand.
